Helping Macquarie University enhance campus life

13 Nov 2019

We are pleased to be working at Macquarie University on the Becton Dickinson Public Domain Upgrade. Glascott worked at Macquarie University in 2011, delivering landscaping around the new research and development centre.

The latest upgrade centred around the Becton Dickinson Building includes civil, structural and combined civil landscape components; streetscapes, road construction, shared pedestrian and traffic zones, open space and public domain areas. The project aims to improve traffic and pedestrian safety, amenity, accessibility and connectivity.

Landscape Architect, Group GSA, designed the new areas with Glascott delivering works across two Stages. Stage 1 includes demolition of the existing carpark and replaced with a new link road, kerb and gutter and footpaths, plus installation of new lighting and electrical services, stormwater and subsurface drainage, structural steel and timber viewing decks, ramps, stairs, and decorative balustrades and handrails.

Stage 2, commencing in July, comprises demolition and removal of the existing section of Research Park Drive to be replaced with a new open space shared pedestrian and traffic zone. Decorative concrete and segmental pavement with insitu concrete feature walls to be constructed with proprietary and bespoke park furniture installed, street signage, formal and informal soft landscaping.

Glascott are currently working on Stage 1 demolition, clearing, stockpiling, bulk earthworks, re-grading and preliminary set out. Subcontractors will be on site shortly to commence early service works.

Our proven experience at universities including works at the University of Technology, University of Western Sydney 1 Parramatta Square, University of Canberra and the University of Queensland and more. We understand how to work in an active campus environment while minimising disruption. Being Federal Safety Commission Accredited, our primary consideration on site is ensuring the safety of everyone in and around our work site.

We will implement proven methodologies in taking landscapes from concept to reality while working to our client’s requirements and the vision for the campus upgrade.
