SafeWork NSW Webinar on Musculoskeletal Disorders Featuring Glascott Landscape and Civil

24/09/2024

SafeWork NSW’s latest online publication, part of a three-video webinar series focused on managing Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in the workplace features the Glascott Landscape and Civil Gipps Street Team.

This valuable public resource is part of SafeWork NSW’s MSD Prevention Plan, aimed at mitigating risks of sprains, strains, and other musculoskeletal injuries across industries by 2026.

Earlier this year, SafeWork Inspectors and their film crew spent a day at our Gipps Street Recreational Precinct project, capturing footage with our site team to highlight how simple risk management solutions can effectively reduce exposure to hazardous manual tasks, cutting down on task duration, repetition, and awkward postures.

The webinar was shown at the launch of the SafeWork reforms and the new SafeWork Prevention Plan to 2026 attended by representatives from various industries, safety managers, unions, and Minister Sophie Cotsis.

The opportunity to be featured in this important series was made possible through Glascott Landscape and Civil’s HSEQ Manager, Elliott Humphries. Elliott is an active contributor to the MSD Prevention Plan, serving on the SafeWork NSW Consultative Committee which meets regularly to discuss best practices for managing MSD risks, trends analysis, and feedback on regulatory policy.

Elliott played a key role in the launch event discussion panel moderated by Jim Kelly, Director of Health & Safe Design, SafeWork NSW. Alongside Veronica Black, NSW Nurses and Midwives Association, and Jasmina Budisa, Specialist Services SafeWork NSW, they addressed key topics such as risk management challenges, leadership buy-in, and the future of MSD prevention.

We recognise and thank Elliott for his dedication to MSD management not only at Glascott but across all industries in NSW. We also thank SafeWork NSW for choosing to feature Glascott Landscape and Civil, and a huge shoutout to our Gipps Street Recreation Precinct Team for hosting the film crew, staring on-screen and supporting behind the scenes.

At Glascott Landscape and Civil, the safety of our team and the contractors we work with is paramount. We are fully committed to reducing MSD risks through proactive measures, reinforcing the video’s powerful message: “MSDs are preventable. Simple changes can make a difference.

We look forward to continuing this crucial conversation and implementing further strategies to enhance workplace safety.
