Creating Melaleuca Lake and Playground at Jordan Springs

13 Nov 2019

Jordan Springs is one of the newest and fastest growing suburbs in the Penrith City Council LGA, and when complete the community will be home to around 13,000 people.

Glascott has forged a great relationship with Lendlease Communities completing multiple stages at the award-winning master plan development including the 5.5ha Village Oval and amenities – the largest community asset, and Livvi’s Place all-abilities playground.

The most recent delivery from Glascott was Melaleuca Lake and the accompanying neighbourhood playground, which saw them reshape 6.5ha of lake surrounds and install 145,000 plants. The lake was designed to capture water run-off and control flow during storms with the plants in the lake helping remove sediment and nutrients from the stormwater run-off.

The official opening of Melaleuca Lake coincided with National Reconciliation Week and included a smoking ceremony, storytelling, a dance performance, indigenous food tasting and a native animal display.

Jordan Springs is nestled in around 900ha of regional parkland so the new lake and natural looking playspace blend seamlessly into the surrounds.
