Garema Place pop-up micro park comes alive
Delivering the Craft-Your-Park Competition and Amaroo School for Spacelab this year, our team were thrilled to work with them again on the Garema Place pop-up micro park.
The park design was chosen from a public competition with entrants pitching their ideas through drawing and photographs. Grounds of Garema took out first place with Spacelab actualising the design concept ready for construction.
The winning design included a bright yellow community piano and a sculptural floral podium with a telescope. Glascott constructed the elements off-site before installing them, along with artificial grass mats, custom wooden picnic tables and raised planter beds. They also hung umbrellas in the tree canopy.
The end result is an engaging pop up park with fun features everywhere you look. The local community, businesses and visitors were able to enjoy the colourful installation at Garema Place during October and November. The pop-up park has been removed and will be relocated to Woden Library in the New Year for more people to enjoy.
