Gipps Street Industry Tour: Showcasing a Landmark Sport and Recreation Development

On 31st August, Penrith’s highly anticipated Gipps Street Recreation Precinct officially opened to the public, attracting over 7,000 attendees and making the evening news.

Two months later, Glascott Landscape and Civil and Penrith City Council hosted an industry event, bringing together sport and recreation professionals to explore the 32-hectare precinct and learn about its development journey.

A Morning of Insights About Collaboration

The event provided a platform to hear from the key contributors with Penrith City Council sharing their ambitious vision for the project and complexities of transforming a former landfill site into a world-class recreation precinct, and the outcomes achieved.

GroupGSA and Fiona Robbe Landscape Architects presented the intricate design process that balances sustainability with community needs while incorporating innovative features that cater to diverse users. They were joined by Northrop Consulting Engineers, who discussed the technical challenges, underscoring the importance of civil engineering expertise in overcoming the site complexities.

The presentations were rounded out by Glascott Landscape and Civil, with key subcontractors REEC Electrical and ParkEquip. They shared highlights from the 2-year construction, including meticulous programming, managing a diverse range of specialists and subcontractors, and employing effective problem-solving strategies to address challenges—all while upholding high standards of quality and adhering to project timelines.
