Mentoring at Blacktown TAFE With John Holland

The Glascott Group recently joined a rewarding initiative to support new talent entering the civil construction industry.

John Holland, in collaboration with SydWest Multicultural Services, invited our Chief Operating Officer, Ben Ledwidge, and Senior Estimator, David Banasiak, to participate in the Job Readiness Civil Construction Program at Blacktown TAFE.

The event provided an engaging platform to connect with candidates – many of whom are new to Australia -and offer practical advice on building a career in civil construction. The morning included insightful presentations from each organisation, followed by a Q&A panel discussion, where the industry professionals shared tips on interviewing, gaining employment, and excelling in construction roles.

Candidates participated in mock interviews, practising their skills with mentors who offered constructive feedback to help them become job-ready. This was followed by a graduation ceremony for the TAFE NSW Job Ready Candidates, complete with a celebratory cake and lunch.

We extend our thanks to John Holland, TAFE NSW, and SydWest Multicultural Services for inviting us to join this important program. It was an honour to meet the candidates and contribute to their journey into the civil construction industry.
