Googong: A Haven for Community Parks and Open Space
15/05/2024
Googong is a PEET master-planned community situated adjacent to the permanently protected Googong Foreshores Nature Reserve, within the Queanbeyan–Palerang Regional Council LGA,
With 23% of Googong dedicated to parks and open spaces, the township will eventually boast 11 playing fields, 10 tennis courts, 6 netball courts, a BMX track, a regional playground, a skate park, 13 local parks, an indoor pool and sports centre, pitch and putt, and over 15km of walkways, bike paths and bush trails.
Glascott Landscape and Civil’s ACT division takes pride in its contributions to many of Googong’s open space projects. From the all-abilities playground, Lovegrove Park, to the vibrant Yerradhang Nguru Gumnut Playground with its iconic pink ping pong tables; our team has played a pivotal role in creating inviting recreational spaces for the community.
A recent standout project is Bunyip Park (pictured), a Bunyip-themed park nestled alongside Bunyip Lake. Featuring a whimsical Bunyip Playground and terraced open space turf areas for community gatherings, Bunyip Park offers fun and entertainment for the community and prospective buyers. The project included a stylish amenities block and parking facilities, offering convenience for locals and visitors alike.
Our Canberra team has also delivered two large natural turf ovals within the Googong precinct. Rockley Oval offers a range of sporting facilities, including AFL posts, cricket pitches, and playground amenities, while Googong Oval features cricket and rugby league fields, a skate park, and a basketball court. Googong Oval also boasts a unique DJ booth with speakers, allowing visitors to plug in their music and enjoy a lively atmosphere.
As Googong continues to evolve, Glascott Landscape and Civil remain committed to the town’s recreational offerings, fostering a sense of community connection.
With every project, we strive to deliver spaces that inspire and delight, leaving a lasting legacy for generations of residence to come.
