National Rock Garden Project at the National Arboretum in Canberra

22/07/2024

Glascott Landscape and Civil have completed Stage 1 of the National Rock Garden at the National Arboretum in Canberra. The National Rock Garden celebrates Australia’s rich geological heritage, showcasing the diverse rocks and minerals that significantly contribute to the nation’s landscapes, heritage, and prosperity.

In collaboration with Australian National University and Harris Hobbs Landscapes, our Canberra team undertook several key tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to the National Arboretum operations. The site was meticulously regraded to prepare for the installation. A metal walking bridge was installed, enhancing accessibility and allowing visitors to enjoy the garden from various vantage points.

Huge granite rocks, sourced from all over Australia, were relocated to the site to create a stunning centrepiece. Once in place, the Glascott team constructed a wheelchair-accessible exposed aggregate pathway that guides visitors through the garden, creating a seamless and aesthetically pleasing experience. Additionally, they carried out mass spray grassing to establish a lush, green environment that enhances the natural beauty of the rock garden.

The National Rock Garden project is a testament to our commitment to high-quality landscape construction. We are proud to have played a role in this project and look forward to seeing the National Rock Garden become a cherished attraction for locals and visitors to the National Arboretum.
