Gipps Street Recreation Precinct Wins Community Facility of the Year

24/06/2025

We’re thrilled to celebrate the Gipps Street Recreation Precinct being named Community Facility of the Year at the 2025 Parks & Leisure Australia (PLA) NSW/ACT Awards of Excellence!

Congratulations to our client, Penrith City Council, for this well-earned recognition. It’s been an honour to help bring their vision to life and to play a part in transforming a former waste facility into one of Western Sydney’s most vibrant and inclusive community spaces.

Delivered by Glascott Landscape and Civil with design leadership from GroupGSA and Fiona Robbé Landscape Architects, the project is a powerful example of how bold design, genuine co-design, and careful delivery can create a long-term community asset.

The precinct includes:

  • A regional playspace

  • Youth zone and skate areas

  • Multipurpose sports fields

  • Walking trails and green corridors

  • A dedicated dog park

  • Shelters, picnic areas, and public amenities

Thousands now visit Gipps Street each week, proof of its value as a space that supports a healthy, active, and connected community.

We are incredibly proud of our delivery team, led by Matt Bourke, Daniel Badger, and Project Manager Travis Atkins, whose technical skill and leadership ensured success across every phase of the build. The project was delivered The Glascott Way – a collaborative and quality-driven approach that underpins all our work.

We also acknowledge our maintenance partner, Marsupial Landscape Management, for their role in upholding the precinct’s quality both during and post-construction.

Congratulations to everyone involved! This award is a testament to what can be achieved when great minds and passionate teams come together.

We look forward to seeing Penrith City Council represent NSW/ACT at the National Awards in Hobart this November!
