Description:
The Fernleigh Awabakal Shared Track (FAST) project is a 27km shared pathway and active transport route connecting Murrays Beach to Adamstown.
The project is partly funded by the NSW Government Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund and aims to improve safety, lifestyle and fitness, and showcase Lake Macquarie’s natural assets for locals and tourists.
The construction of the longest active transport route in the Hunter Region commenced in 2021, with Glascott delivering the final stage comprising 1.5 km of pathway with boardwalks and a unique pedestrian bridge over Cold Tea Creek. The pathway alignment on Council land included 1.5m wide footpath diversions at points of interest with 3m wide boardwalks. We assisted with refining the design and importantly, minimising environmental impact during construction on Cold Tree Creek and the surrounding wetlands.
