Description:

Our Hunter division are currently delivering the final stretch of the Fernleigh Awabakal Shared Track (FAST) project for Lake Macquarie City Council.

The FAST project commenced in 2021, with the aim of creating a shared pathway that links the end of the Fernleigh Track, creating a 27km active transport route from Murrays Beach to Adamstown.

Glascott’s project comprises the construction of a 1.5km pathway on the western side of Belmont Lagoon, including sections of boardwalk and a bridge over Cold Tea Creek. The alignment will be located on Council owned and managed land, with a 3m wide shared pathway, 1.5m wide footpath diversions at points of interest, and 3m wide boardwalk, connecting Railway Parade, Belmont (Belmont TAFE) in the north to Ocean Park Road, Belmont South, terminating near the intersection of Green Street.

The FAST project is partly funded by the NSW Government Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund and aims to increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists, improve lifestyle and fitness in the community, showcase Lake Macquarie’s natural assets, and increase active transport options.

Once completed, the entire track will be the longest active transport route in the Hunter Region.
