Description:
The Beijing Garden is Located on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. The garden was a centennial gift from the Beijing Municipal Government to the people of Canberra to celebrate the significance of its sister city relationship. Glascott undertook construction including managing a team of 30 non-English speaking Chinese Artisans to create the garden in the Qing Dynasty style. Imported stone masonry, wood and tiles were used to create a traditional Chinese gate, pavilion and sculptures.
Other features included cracked ice paving to match existing extensive concrete and pavilion works, rock gardens, and culturally significant trees.
